Frequently Asked Questions

Buying new blinds is a big decision. Whether you are looking to save money on your heating, improve your privacy, or just modernise your home, you likely have a few questions before you book a consultation.

As a local expert serving Oughtibridge, Stocksbridge, and the wider Sheffield area, I’ve put together the answers to the questions I get asked most often.

1. Do thermal blinds actually save money on energy bills?

Yes, if you choose the right technology. Our Blind Screen™ range has been independently tested by the University of Salford Energy House Labs. The data proved it can reduce heat loss through windows by up to 49%. By creating a thermal seal, it keeps the warmth in during winter and reflects heat in the summer.

2. Do you offer free measuring and quotes in South Yorkshire?

Absolutely. I provide a fully mobile service across Sheffield, Rotherham, and Barnsley. I’ll bring the samples to your home so you can see the fabrics against your own decor, take professional measurements, and provide a no-obligation quote on the spot.

3. What are the best blinds for bifold or patio doors?

For large spans of glass, there are moany options from motorised Day and Night to Blind Screen™ or Vertical Blinds. Blind Screen™ is particularly popular for modern homes because of its ultra-slim profile and the fact it can cover large areas without the need for bulky tracks or heavy fabrics.  The motorised option is a complete show stopper.

4. I need total darkness in my bedroom. Which blinds are best?

If you need to block out the streetlights or the early morning sun, you need a 100% Blackout fabric. While many blinds offer "dimout" (which softens light), our specialized blackout screens and honeycomb duette blinds are designed to eliminate light gaps, making them perfect for shift workers and nurseries.

5. Can I get blinds that offer privacy without losing the light?

Yes! Day and Night blinds (also known as Vision blinds) and Silhouette blinds are perfect for this. They use a dual-layer of fabric that allows you to filter the light into the room while preventing people from seeing in—a great choice for homes in busy areas like Hillsborough.

6. How do I clean my blinds?

Most of our modern fabrics, are designed to be low-maintenance. A quick wipe with a damp cloth or a light dusting with a vacuum attachment is usually all it takes to keep them looking brand new.
